The varied and descript characters come alive with their problems, issues, dilemmas and how, when and where they choose to solve them!! Hooray! The Short Story is back! This assortment of brief tales is surprising and attention grabbing. Each story feels like it came directly from the heart. Some are sharp and witty - others are sentimental - and some of them offer an unexpected turn - but never are they dull. This one is a real keeper. The kind of book that can be glanced at and reread over and over again...!
I found Brian Scott Mednick's newest book even more entertaining than his last. I felt as if I knew some of the characters in the stories of our "naked city." Bravo again! I look forward to his next writing of brilliance.
I've just finished Drinking Games on the recommendation of a friend. I have never been a fan of the short story genre but Drinking Games has changed my mind. This book, full of wonderful (and not so wonderful) quirky characters, is a riveting look into the daily grind and struggles of those living in the naked city. It speaks to the frustrations, joys, and sometimes unseemly entanglements of the people who choose to live side by side with 8 million other flawed folks; some trying to get by and some trying to soar.
Pour yourself a nice martini (either gin or vodka [unless you're a purist]) and settle in for a terrific read that might just make you a little tipsy.
